Description
One lovely hibiscus bloom in black and white.
It is said that it is more difficult to get an interesting shot in black and white than it is to shoot in color. When you remove color from a photograph, the image then has to rely on the drama that is created with light, shadow, texture and composition to capture and hold the attention of the audience.
I was one of those photographers who dragged their feet when it came time to explore the world of digital photography. I didn't want to give up film and couldn't see, back then, how digital could possibly be any better.
But technology advanced rather quickly and eventually I gave in. The thing I like best about shooting digital is that we now have ENDLESS combinations of editing techniques at our disposal and can create several finished images from one single shot that look totally different from one another.
To see this in action, take a look at 'Hibiscus in Pink' which was created by editing this same shot in color.
